I bought this batch of coins dated in the 1950s. They are from the same old-time collection as my previous posts. I hope that this photo enlarges OK so that you can see all of them clearly. Most of them are uncirculated. If there is a coin in the photo that you can’t identify or if you want a better picture, just ask. Thanks for letting me share. Very best regards, Collect89
Well, my picture of all the coins didn’t turn out a nice as I thought it would. There is a 1958 Denmark 2 Kroner which celebrates the princess’s 18th birthday. This 2-headed coin includes a male head on the obverse & female head on the reverse. There is also a key date aluminum coin from Italy. It would be worth $5 normally but if we could find someone that collects these Italian coins by date, then it would be a very popular (and expensive) piece. Another favorite of mine is the 100 Franc from France.
Some of these coins are real winners. The Danish coin alone lists at $12 now. The Libyan doesn't list for anything yet but is quite tough in unc. The Lebanese 10 P coin lists at $15 but is a little overpriced. The French coin should be worth at least $5 and is underappreciated. Tunisia(s) are good. Isn't that a Romanian coin in the upper left corner. If it's dated in the '50's it lists pretty high. Maybe $80 or so. Some of the Portuguese 5E are good. It's another nice batch.
The silver content varies much from country to country The Libyan coin lists in Krause for $1.50 in Unc and $3 in BU so I'm probably not going to retire on that one. When I got them home, the first thing I did was try to understand what the batch was worth in silver compared to what I paid. I felt I had gotten a good deal overall (and I was right). The silver coins range from 0.300 (Mexico) 0.500 (Australia) 0.600 (Lebanon) 0.720 (Egypt) 0.800 (Denmark) 0.835 (Portugal) etc. I added them up at the spot price & just the silver is worth $99.28
