Carlos the Second was the last king from the Spanish Habsburg Dynasty. He died in 1700.
And Louis XIV de Bourbon (French King) proclaimed his own grandson (Philippus d"Anjou) as Philippus V.
But Austria & England was not agree with that choice. And in 1701 the War of Spanish Succestion started.
In 1703 Charles von Habsburg (the son of Leopold I the Emperor of the Holly Roman Empire) proclaimed himself as Carlos III the King and went into Spain.
He captured such Spanish territories as Valensia, Catalonia, Barselona & Aragon. In 1710 Charlos III engaged in Madrid. But French forces turned out him soon.
And Philipp d"Anjou become the Spanish King.

As for Charles von Habsburg, he become the Emperor of the Holly Roman Empire as Charles VI in 1711.
When Carlos III was the applicant on the Spanish throne, he minted a several different coins. It is a rather rare coins now.
    I have this 2 reales 1709.
