Just getting my feet wet in coins and currency...hopefully I get the terminology right. Searched my first $100 singles strap today. Below are a few "notables." Since it was my first strap, I'd like to keep one of these...any thoughts on which? I was thinking of keeping the 1963 note. 2006 consecutives (these got cut off since I scanned all of the bills mentioned here on one sheet...and I did it at work so it was a rush job ) 1988 A partial doubler 1963 B and 2006 partial repeater (reverse was written on with marker which you can see bleeding through)
750 in Singles & 700 in 10's & 500 in 5's searched so far today. Nothing in the 5's & 10's.. Bummer In The Singles I found several older 1981, '88 bills but they rough so I tossed back into the pool.. I did get a couple nice Stars and a.. I guess repeater..?? What do you call this bill? $1.00 2006 L11116666N $1.00 2006 L06071376* $1.00 2003 J01330991* Oh And I have been searching .50 Cent Coins but did get 4 Rolls from a branch and Got 4 40% Silvers.. 2 '66 1 '68 and 1 '69.. Yea!
I ended up keeping the 1963 and the 1988 partial doubler (since it was my first strap). Since Monday I've searched $1350 in singles. I have a few star notes and a birthday note so far. I'll post my end of week results tomorrow.
moonshine i would have definitely kept the '63, you never see them in circulation, nice job! i am so tired of seeing 2006 and 2003 notes, thats all i ever get! i recently got an '88 and kept it since it was my birth year. if anyone ever runs across an 1988 with the serial 05191988, let me know, i will pay whatever for it! it would be my birthday note and year.
Back to the Bank on the 3rd run for today.. 200 in Halves.. Nothing.. But another 500 in 5's and did get one Star 2006 IA00275414* Perfect Condition
Received in change today buying a lotto ticket, Series 1969C $5 Boston A86417883A. Of course it's seen years of circulation, a lot of margin stains, writing on the face, a margin tear, bent corners and several creases. Still stood out and will hold on to it despite the miserable condition.
First time strap searching! In some down time while working yesterday at the bank I searched...umm...a FEW straps of $1 Most of them are not in great condition but I plan on going through a bunch of uncirculated on Monday.
Hopefully I have tons more by next week. Found a few $100 star notes, no special serials or anything. Are they worth anything above face val?
i'm lucky enough to have a cash only job... lots and lots of bills coming and going. in the past month i've found a $1 1957 silver certificate, a $1 1963a, a $1 1963b, a $10 1977, 8 $1 stars (2 2003a and 6 2006), and a $5 2001 star.
@ lv: Congrats on your finds. Despite their condition, I'd hold onto the: F05555522T & L81181100I notes. You really need to spot brand new straps with the right SN range to get binary, repeaters and such in ChCU condition. Keep looking!
I only looked through 2 straps of $100 and the straps were only $2000. Found 3 star notes. Most $100 bills I come across are circulated in good shape, but the ones I came across didn't have low serials. Since I work at a main branch we have some of each bill that are uncirculated. We were decently busy Friday (just picked up collecting these on Thursday lol) so I didn't have time to check the uncirculated. I'm pretty excited about the $2 bills. I will definitely post pics up after I explore them. I wanted to ask about the hundreds before I picked them up. I would like to just re sell them for a little more than face value.
Had A good week! My First repeater and my First Radar!! Oh and my teller saved me another 1996 50.00 Star .. The Radar is a 2006 $5.00 IL93611639 Crisp and like new!! and I already posted the Repeater 2006 $1.00 L11116666N I have been strap searching all year.. these are the first two full Radar/Repeater... YEA!!
3 2006 series star notes and 1 1974 series - went through roughly $800. I also found a 1963 $20 note but it's seen better days so I didn't buy it, still holding onto a 1985 series $100 star, short run of 640k, just can't tie up $100 right now.
My totals from last week: 1,850 singles searched 5 star notes (found a 6th but there was a chunk missing from it) 1 1963 series note 1 2006 birthday note (C07201953D)
searched $500 in ones and $500 in fives. ones-oldest bill was a 1977A fives-nothing old, but a 2003A star and a 2006 star.
