The new episode of The Coin Show is up! Go to coinshow.libsyn.com to download or stream the show. First let me apologize for the audio quality this week. We had some technical difficulties during recording which will be sorted out for the next episode. This weeks segments are a look at the News, photographing your coins, and Coins 101: how to handle your coins. If you want to listen to a specific section, they begin at 1(0:00), 2(19:41), and 3(28:49). We would love to hear your your comments on the show, so post here, go to our Facebook page accessible from coinshowradio.com and become a fan, or post a comment on the podcast post at coinshow.libsyn.com. Hope to hear from you and check on Wednesdays for new episodes!
I must say I truly do look forward to these "radio" shows. It's a great time passer and definately educational. Great topics covered this week and I really enjoyed the initial coin news segment. Only prob/suggestion is that I can't hear one of the voices as clearly as the others, I think it may be Mike? Not sure if this is my glitch or if he's sitting a little further from the microphone, or if it's simply his soft voice. Other than that, the show is great and I can't wait for number 3.
Yeah, that was one of the glitches that we had this week. Sometimes he was soft and sometimes he was the right volume :rolling: Next time, we will make sure that is fixed
A large round of applause to Carlton who took who took the impossible this week, and made it work anyway. Due to technical difficulties (read Noodle) my audio got really messed up and I thought that the show might be lost. Carlton stepped up and made Chicken Salad from my Chicken Poop, and we at least have a copy (if you call it that) of this show. I apologize and after having been to the woodshed, promise not to do that again. Try to enjoy the show, it seems like we're starting to get rolling a bit and that the chemistry between the 3 of us is really starting to gel. We need ideas of things that you'd like to hear! Please post on our wall or in this thread! Thanks for listening!
well, one thing That I would like people to keep in mind is that we are not the end-all experts, we are just 3 guys talking coins. When it comes to die varieties, I am by no means any more knowledgeable than your average tree stump, and as far as "lightning rod" subjects like IGWT on coins, AT vs. NT, I don't think that we're going to do a lot of that stuff until we can find a way to interact with people live. We will however, cover subjects such as counterfeit detection and resources to help people learn about them. We have introduced a segment "From Change" where we talk about series and collecting them from your pocket change. I think that a segment more focused on facts about a particular series of coins is forthcoming. Your suggestions on what series will be welcomed. I would assume that we will get a lot of requests for classic series, and we will probably start with one of those. I like the idea about coin etiquette, or at least making yourself more comfortable with approaching people at a coin show. Something along those lines sounds interesting. Keep the good ideas coming!
I just spent some time this aft listening to both of these programs. My thumbs up to the 3 gentlemen involved in this great listening experiance. P.S, I just love the dramatic intro music...
Great shows. Seems like the three of you are already getting the swing of it. Dimeguy offered up some good future topics. Another might be, 'how not to get ripped off' or 'don't overpay for X coin'. Maybe a 'what's hot, whats not' as in what's currently in demand and what's cold. Just some ideas.
I dunno, how about some 1st hand antidotes from from you dealers about running your businesses, ie) difficult customers, best and worse purchases. How about your experiances at coin shows, ebay, and auction good and bad exeriances..stuff like that
Thats a good idea. One of you hosts can post a new topic on it and let us reply with some of our experiences and read the replies and on the show maybe pick out a few replies that stand out and read them on the show and gives us your thoughts so some collectors dont get ripped.
I really loved the show. I think you guys are doing great, maybe you could add some history lessons on certain coins for beginners like talking about the pittman act of 1918 or the baland allison act, things like that. It would be good for the newbies and always nice for some of the more experienced people to refresh.
First link did not work for me at all. Second was a link to facebook and the page said I would have to join to see anything and since I didn't, couldn't see anything there either. Third link was OK but yes the audio was messed up a little.
Carl, the audio that does exist is a miracle based on what Carlton had to work with. This episode's crappy sound quality is due to a mistake on my part which I will try to never let happen again.
I have been rolling around an idea for a segment called "The year in coins" and do a different year every week, but I could run out of interesting years fairly soon, so as with most raw ideas, it needs some refining. Any suggestions are welcome, as always.
Ah I don't get to the forum very often and saw the talk show on the page. It's really great so I wanted to share. I'm just glad there's a link here it took me a while to find it.
and we thank the fine folks that run CT for giving us an embedded player here on the pages of this forum. You keep listening, and we'll keep making more! thanks for listening, Mike
