It's probably caused by the dirty, smelly socks that are in there with them.

I think the 52 looks rough because the picture is a little out of focus. How long did this take?

First - to hard to say. The lighting and the angle are not the same. I can't judge what really happened or how much it really changed.

Second - if it really is as bad as you show, then it is time to quit storing coins in your closet and to get something climate controlled. Just my opinion.

I reckon your OUT now.

Multiple factors could be at play: your unique environment in your home (humidity, atmospheric pressures), the wood work gassing off, fabric softner chemicals and fragrances in clothing, cedar or moth balls, dirty laundry odors, trapped / stale air, cardboard boxes leaching acids, the oils in the plastic Littleton thingie, your own heavy breathing while you are hiding in the closet ;), if there is cigarette smoke in your home or the prescience of a pet, it's odors and activities...

I think he was attempting to test how coins tone when stored somewhere like a closet.

lincolns are starting to become one of my favorite things to collect. from what i see, i like the 2009 set, whats it called?

    back on

i was keeping some of my coins in styrofoam cooler, because space is getting to be an issue. after only a few weeks its turning one of my canadian quarters blue. i am going to take it out, because i have a feeling its going to get ugly.

To each their own. I liked the Frankie better before you put it in the closet - had a nice rainbow. Use to be the after pic was considered ugly blotchy toning and most I knew dipped them to get rid of it in the hopes it would tone better next time around.
