i quit drinking several years ago but for any of you who still partake, watch an episode of the coin vault on shop at home and take a swig every time robert chambers says "while they last". you'll be hammered in a half hours time.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE COIN VAULT. I watch it whenever my wife surfs into it.

Then again, it edited me off considering how many people who might really enjoy the hobby if they had something of value.

As for the drinking game, I must pass. Should have posted this 10 years ago and I'd have had a grand time.

Have you guy's noticed how the prices in the "leading numismatic catalog"
are always 50%-100% higher than actual retail prices.
How do these guys stay in business all these years?

What I laugh at is his statement of being on ShopAtHome for 17 years. Don't you think in that amount at least one director of the camera men should have learned by now to keep up with the proof set or mint set, or whatever Robert Chambers is discussing. The cameras show a 64 mint set while Chambers is discussing a 68-69 mint set. Watch it sometime, the camera operators must be drunk or something. They also run a lot of taped 1/2 hours. I laugh when the coins are almost 'gone', but they just somehow managed to beat the bushes and find more in the marketplace. I couldn't tell you how many times the SAE MS69 are no longer available. One Monday night he was selling MS68 Eagles on live TV, the tape the following Saturday morning they were selling MS69 SAE's. Please folks, and I know most of you do, watch this for the comedy only.

It is so good to have Coin Talk to turn to for my answers. There is so much knowledge on this web site, and I thank all of you for helping me out several times. If it wasn't for this site I would have been overcharged or duped by one of these shows. I now run all my questions through this website for good answers. Thanks again -Jim

PS-If you get the chance, try and watch Mike Messak (The Headquarters for State Quarters), on America'sStore.com, 8PM EST, Fridays for more fun and laughs. I to wonder how they stay on the air.

It's so funny when Chambers yells "M S SIXTY NINE" and pauses for like a minute and in a low voice says "that's a hair from perfection".

If you want repetition, count how many times Paul Hollis says "tu ya" with a draw.

"...and they'll be going out tu ya"

He always says it with that certain draw every time.

There was a Robert Chambers who was a preppie drug addict bandit and rapist/ murder on the Upper East Side of Manhatten some years ago. Most likey a different person, but seems if the name might have something to with something.

I get a kick out of watching those coin shows. I sit with my red book to see how overpriced the coins are, and always wonder how they sometimes sell graded modern coins for the price it would take us to have them certified? they must have some bulk discount.

My brother and i alway's laugh at that tu-ya thing too,i think he's from New Orleans.
Julie Tello didn't know beans about coins but she was fun to look at,they use her on the hair care and exercise shows now.

you guys are right about hollis and the "tu ya" thing. the other thing i like is how he pronounces quality as kwal it teeee, with the emphasis on the t. how about how he always talks about coins encapsulating history, which i guess in a sense is true but he sure beats the drum about it. hollis and chambers are there to make money and i'm sure they do. chambers could sell you a rotten apple. the post about how the coins are almost gone and then a week later they have the same thing is dead on as well. also enjoyed hearing about mike mesak and that other boob, alan something on hsn. hearing that guy describe a colorized coin as if it were an 1804 silver dollar just cracks me up. the way these guys use statements that are not outright lies but are usually irrelevent is amazing. "you're buying history","this coin is over a hundred years old" "this state quarter is from texas, when you think how big texas is,think how many people would want one, that's why you should call NOW!"i just thought this would be a fun post and maybe warn a few people from paying too much. thanks to all on the forum, banny

    Nuts just trying to sell

It is not only him it is also shawn Leffer (one of the stupidest persons in coins). He says LNC more than robert. Also "You could not do this on yor own." and "This is an phenomenal opportunity for someone." and "If you are fast at dialing." Half the time he has no idea about the coins he is selling. Both of them have stated that the SBA was a last minute pull in 1982 because the mint put in a medalion. The mint anounced in 1981 they were no longer going to make the SBA and that is wy you could only buy them in mint sets or proof sets. It is just one of their tricks to try and make people believe that they are getting something more. If I turn the coin vault on I usually mute the TV unles it is Scott speaking. At least he tries to give good information.

Wow, time travel to the year 2005!

This drinking game can be matched by Mezack's as well. Take a drink when you hear...
"Proof is not a condition, it's a method of manufacture"
"You get the Red Oak presentation box"
"ANACS, which is America's oldest grading company"
    "Coins are graded on a 70 point scale, there's no 71 there's no 70.1"

My favorite Robert Chambersism is when he points to the AU Morgans and says with that southern drawl:"These are just a hair shy of....GEM BEEE YOUUU!!!!"
