BTW - This is not the coin of previous discussions This one cost me about $100.00 which might be a bit much for a cleaned coin. Better photo's are on http://www.mrbrklyn.com/coins/ Ruben
Looks great to me, It will tone down in time, I use to carry a cleaned coin in my pocket for awhile and handle them, and then put them up for a few years, couldnt really tell they were cleaned!, Remember, these are coins, ment to be in your pocket and handled, they will tone.Just my experiance with a few.
I'm not worried about the ton. It will alway be a clened coin. There is some kind of cleaner in the A, D, E and S on the top of the Obverse side which can be seen only with a magnifying glass. OTOH though, look at the detail in the reserse of this coin, espeically the Wreath. And the coin sparkles. who ever DID clean this coin had some knoledge of what he was doing. Ruben
I like it .I have several ms 2 cent pieces that have been dipped dosn't bother me as long as the coin is all there detail wise, although it dose afect price some would not like it but I say collect what you like after all they are yours. Tom T.
Well I'm not interested in leading the cleaned coin brigade. This coin worked for me because it was relatively cheap. Anyway - I love my coins SO MUCH that I polish them for over 2 hours every night before I can sleep well! Ruben
Its slabbed with an ANACS slab that says 1857 1C 2793702 FE CLEANED Its a gorgoous coin though. And I paid more for it than I thought.... Ruben
That doesn't mean ANACS cleaned the coin....that means that who ever owned the coin or someone before that cleaned it.....ANACS is the only service that will slab cleaned and damaged coins...but they do put the damage on the slab that way you know how much to take off the value. (I think PCI will slab damaged coins too...or at least they used to..) Speedy
