Anybody got a spare $1 or $2 million dollars laying around?

No, this isn't about buying a rare, collectible coin, but rather, getting a coin worth about, oh, say "50 cents" circulating. (plus $2 bills)

I talked to one of those self checkout manufacturing companies, asking them what it would cost to redo their machine plans to accept and dispense $2s and halves as needed, and he said that, just to "entertain" the idea, he would need a couple million dollars up front. (I think he thought I was a rich store owner, so I told him I was just some poor sucker for wanting to get $2s and halves back into general circulation) So, anyway, I just said "Whoa! I guess that explains why you haven't done it already" then I asked him, "Do you guys just think its not worth it, because those two denominations rarely circulate?" and he just said "Yep, pretty much" (I should have explained to him that, if he made the investment to change the designs of his machines for all models today, tomorrow and beyond, these two denominations would start to circulate, and then, even the vending industry might get involved and start retooling for $2s and halves as well)

So, I guess I have to start playing the lottery so that I can win money to "serve" money. :goofer:

I doubt there is anything you can do about the halves, but if we could get them to stop printing one dollar notes the venders WOULD make the investment.
