Has anyone ever had reason to question if they received the same coins back that they submitted to a grading service? If I must submit my coins for grading through another person/dealer, how can I insure that I receive the same coin(s) back that I submitted? Does anyone suggest that I join one of the collectors clubs that allows me 4 or 5 free submissions each year? The same question would apply here. I have purchased several slabbed coins from mail order dealers, but I have never sent a coin to a grading service. Thanks, Jim
Rugen, I have submitted several coins to NGC for certification and I've always gotten to same coins back. If you're really worried about it then I would recommend taking a good quality photo of your coins and comparing them with the coins that you submitted. As far as joining one of the collector clubs, it would depend on how many coins that you were going to submit each year. If only a few then don't bother paying extra for service upgrades. Most of the services have some kind of special going on at any given time-check coin world or coinage for what the current specials are. Joe
Welcome to the forum. Good advice. As one who submits many coins, I have never worried about getting the same coin back. The top services have really good quality control. When you factor in that the top two have done nearly 20 million coins, that stands for trust. If you have 5 or more coins that you want to get certified, go ahead and get the club savings. If you are a member of the ANA, you can directly submit to NGC after filling out a form. Then you only pay for the grading fee. http://ngccoin.com/ana_welcome.htm The top two also offer the ability to check your status online. You will know the grade before it gets back to you.
