Hi Everyone :hail: Would any of you be kind enough to spare 15 mins. to speak with me? I am going to be helping to write a blog on early American and Ancient Coins, but I need to get a quick education and get some feedback on attitudes about coin replicas. Thank you very much! If you could spend 15 years you might learn something. But in 15 minutes you aint got a chance. And replica coins aren't worth the heat it would take to melt them.
Just to give some kind of idea Lisa - I've spent over 50 years collecting, studying, and learning about coins. And yet, depending on how you define Early American coins, I know very little about them. As for ancients, I know next to nothing. But yet I probably no more about both than you could learn in a week of talking to somebody.
Doug(GDJMSP) is the best or has the most knowledge. Of course if you just post a question you might get some widely varying views from the community.
Although he's been around since early American coins were being actively minted, I agree with Doug. Even the so-called experts in the field learn a thing or two every day. Maybe if you talked with enough people you might afford a small glimpse of the area you seek to write about. Best of luck. And just messing, Doug Guy~
Now, Doug, why would anyone want to melt something that would make a perfectly good washer if it only had a hole in it? Chris
