It is a minor issue but almost all these 2001 d pennies have the same problem,
most of the top of lincolns hair is smooth, without the lines or curls, some of the pennies are thinner in width, or thicker but they all weigh the same and some of the letters on the back look like they were sanded, but this was a mint roll and new. I have the unlettered roll to compare to, I had the p but opened that one about 2 years ago and got rid of them. I know this is probably nothing but I just wanted to ask. when looking at a new roll, what to look for. I have a small magnifier and a scale, so I am looking and loving it, but need direction.

    thanx:D

    Photos would help.

Have you looked at the edge of the coins? A tapered planchet could produce a weak strike like you describe.

An almost whole roll of tapered planchets? I don't think so. Frankly it just sounds to me like he has some weak strikes that didn't fill completely and the planchet striations are still showing on the areas that didn't strike up.

    Got pictures?.

I can not get a clear picture for the life of me. my scanner is a feeder scanner not a flat one, so that is out. I will post pics once I get my macro camera can anyone suggest a nice one that is reasonably priced?
