I am watching an item on Ebay. Its all 10 of the 2005 state quarters (5 from each mint). The coins are BU uncirculated, and pulled directly from a mint bag. The buy it now price is only $7.99. I looked for a while to come across these, because they only other once I could find were like $10. Do you think that $7.99 is reasonable for these 10 quarters?
Let me see....10 Quarters,5 from each mint=50 Quarters=$12.50...for $7.50? I'd have to say that's pretty resonable.Sign me up! I'm sure you mean 2 from each mint..no?
No they mean five from each mint, one for each state from each mint. 10 coins total. Go to a dealer or a coin show and you can usually find them pretty easily for 50 cents each. That would be $5. Or like Charlie said just keep searching pocket change and you should be able to find thm for face value, $2.50 $7.50 might not be too bad if that includes shipping.
I dont have any dealers around here, thats my problem. Everythign I get I have to get off of Ebay, a flea market in NC whenever I get up to my grandma's house, or when somebody on here gets me something. And I have been searching pocket change and its becomining ever more diffucult to get certain states. I can't, for the life of me ever seem to run acorss a denver ment state quarter on the east coast. And I have 2 different collection of state quarters going. One for quarters I've pulled out of circulation, and one for uncirculated ones that I buy. I have all the others up to 2005, but I dont have the 2005s yet. So I think that $7.99 isn't too bad, I just wanted others opinion.
It has images, but the images are of the proofs, just so you know which quarters are the ones you are getting. It doesnt show the actual quarters. I've checked his feedback, and he has 99.9% positive feedback, of a feeback score of 2115.
maybe if you shoot the seller a message he might be able to send pics of the BU's.....if not then what is the seller's return policy??
This is exactly why the "old" forum that I belonged to was way ahead of it's time, so to speak. They offered a section where members of the forum could go and exchange quarters that they needed. It seemed to work out rather well for young collectors who were on limited budgets. Sure wish that some other forum would offer the same benefits. (hint-hint) Heck, if push comes to shove, send me your address and I'll see that you get the 5 quarters minted by the Denver mint this year. Call it a Christmas present!
That would be fine and dandy, and dont get me wrong, I would love it. But these are pulled straight from the mint bag and sent to me, thats what so great about the deal, I think.
Given the price, you would spend more in gas to go to the flea market than the coins cost. Try the eBay deal, you aren't going to lose much if the coins aren't as good as you would like, and they might be better than you think, IMHO.
I agree with SCNuss, and worst case you can always just return them if they turn out to be total dogs. If they're nice, then you've found a good seller.
Odd that no one has mentioned a bank. There must be some banks around where you live. Usually if you are a young coin collector, nice to bank people, they could just give you all the state quarters they can. Check if you have any relatives or friends that have a relative working in a bank. Some young kids around here do that and come away with coins I wish I had. If there are several banks around you can get coins from one, look through them, take them back to the other one. Open an account at every bank you can afford to have a small account with. There is normally no charge for doing stuff with coins if you have an account. As already mentioned there is another coin web site that has a section for buying or trading coins and it's a lot safer than ebay. Don't know if I should mention it here but try PCGS web site. Oops, I did say it.
i helped a member( GunLocators) here with state quarters, he took my money and never returned! luckily it was only $1.50
