I wonder what this would be called on the 2009-P Taylor coins? .. While one of the points of the STAR is missing (which would qualify it as a Weak Edge Lettering) somehow I don't think it would be considered Weak Edge Lettering. (Actually, it kinda looks like the star point was turned in to the center of the star.) It definitely looks like (third) die damage but I've never seen anything like this before on these coins. I've seen honked up lettering, weak lettering and no edge lettering but never damaged die lettering. Thoughts?
Chipped edge die. The letters on the edge of the dollar coins are incuse, so the letters on the edge die are raised. In this case one of the points of the star chipped off. Since the die now only had four points, the star in the edge of the coin only has four points.
Well..after many many Fillmore rolls...I finally found an error!! The same as yours! but a few of the stars are only...half stars! I might get it graded 1 day? Thanks for the post...its definitley an error I hope I never see another Fillmore P roll again now!
