My mother had this coin for a long time, then gave it to me. She's told me that it was my grandfather's Freemason Coin, but I cannot find any similar images online. I just want to know how much it might be worth, or where I would go to find out; this is just out of curiosity. Here are two photos of it: It is a little over 2 inches in diameter, weighs probably about 1/4 of a pound, and seems to be made of some kind of copper/bronze, if that helps. Thanks!
Looks special and interesting enough for me to conduct a little search. Take a look at these http://cgi.ebay.com/VITA-CHRISTI-FR...tem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5ad822a910 Says solid bronze, but i found some that look exactly like medals from this set but made of silver. Not sure how or why is it related to the Freemasons.
This piece doesn't resemble any masonic coin I've ever seen. Most mention the specific lodge and appear much more like large copper tokens than medals. Many have wear. I think it's just a Franklin Mint medal, as illustrated in the e-bay link.
Not as much as you think, and certainly not what the seller think's in the eBay ad taxi provided either.
