1979 d penny large lettering and date

    I don't think this is a doubled die I don't know why everything is larger almost looks smashed thanks for the help in advance

    Your gut instinct is correct. The lettering is larger precisely due to being smashed. Compare it to another 1979 D.

    Looks like a dryer coin.

    1979 was still minted in mostly copper, so easily moved on a cent. Poor coin looks like it was pressed hard between two hard surfaces, but not an error, just wear and tear.
