    Hello everyone,

I don't know much about error coins so I thought I would try to get some opinions on a Virgin Islands quarter I pulled out of a bank roll today. I tried to do some research first, and, from what I could tell, for the coin to be struck off center both sides have to be off-center. The interesting thing is that both sides are not off center and the palm trees and the "U.S." seem to be running into each other. On the normal example, there is space between the "U.S." and the palm trees. Let me know what you think about this!

    seemingly normal obverse from error:

ice Just happy to be here

Looks like a die chip. You could call it the ever growing tree

I agree - that looks like a die chip.

Also it appears to be a misaligned die (MAD) that produced the slightly off-center reverse (or is it the obverse since it has the date?).

is it rare to have a misaligned die and a die chip on the same coin?

Flattening of the letters makes me think of a worn die compounded by a chip on the palm.

No, and the die chip would not be considered out of the ordiinary unless it was one with substantial metal displacement.
