As long as you don't try to use it they can't say much.... What one...I have a dime and SAC.....and no I didn't put them on a can....either put them on a board or such.....if you meant the dime....it went up in the air and came down almost at the same place...I have a buddy that will flip a dime in the air and then shoot it....talk about a good shot. If you meant the SAC...that was hard...they went lots of places...one even came back to near where I was sitting....if you meant the slug...when it fell it was just in the grass... Thanks...I try to shoot good...a police man told me me almost all I know about shooting and guns.... So don't try to get my coins Speedy
Technically not coins as has already been mentioned, but Civil War tokens were widely used when regular coinage was hoarded to the point of virtual non-existance for commerce. I count 131 unique issues just in the patriotic series, which is a small number when compared to the unique merchant token issues, which I am not going to count! While I have no cwts listed as unique, I do have about 30 in the 2-4 known range and perhaps 2 dozen additional unlisted ones.
That is a great question but I will not give the answer you expect. Any coin with exceptional eye appeal is the rarest coin in that it is a unique one of a kind work of art. I spout off a bit here about eye appeal being underrated in determining value. I see this as an opportunity to add gorgeous coins to my collection at what I think are low prices. The trick is to have good taste.
I have a few varieties that are quite rare, but none were as expensive as the $s that come to mind with the variety craziness with US type coins.
Hi, I think there are many rare coins. A variety that I think is extremely rare, (only 2 known) are business strike 1972 S Lincoln Cent DDO pieces. Only discovered a few years ago. I had my discovery piece photographed by Billy Crawford and Attributed as being undiscovered about 4 years ago. Only one other has turned up since. Have Fun, Bill
One can not get any rarer than one example, of which quite a number of single issues can claim. While not regular government issues, they did circulate widely as money when regular coinage was hoarded to the point commerce was becoming difficult. I would nominate Civil War tokens as the series with the highest number of rare issues. In just the patriotic series alone, I counted 131 id's that were listed as unique. In general, the patriotics are much more common, as they were the "generic" tokens. Patriotics also comprise only about 15 to 20 percent of all cwts, the merchant tokens generally being much rarer. I don't have hours to spend counting unique merchant tokens, but I checked just one prolific merchant issuer, and 157 varieties of his tokens were either R9 (2-4 known) or R10 (unique). I do not have any cwts that are listed as unique, but I do have around 30 or so R9 rarity ones. I also have a couple dozen unlisted cwts, so some of those could possibly be unique.
Sorry for the duplicate post, was having computer problems the other evening when I tried to post the first time. The computer locked up without showing my post as being made. Guess I should have checked before typing the post again.
I don't know about world, but for US would it possibly be the 1849 Double Eagle of which there is one of?
