I picked up a few newer slabbed coins dirt cheap.

    2009-S silver dime PCGS PR69DCAM

    1980-S clad dime PCGS PR69DCAM

2005-S clad Kennedy half PCGS PR69DCAM

American Samoa clad quarter NGC PR69 Ultra Cameo

Puerto Rico clad quarter NGC PR69 Ultra Cameo

For what I paid for these, I could sell them on ebay for twice what I paid. Are they worth hanging onto, or should I go ahead and unload them? Will they ever appreciate in value?

Out of curiosity, where did you pick them up so cheap at a shop or show? Personally I would sell them all if you could make money, unless of course you want to collect them.

I have been buying a few odds and ends on ebay to run through a local auction this fall. I'll find out then if it was worth it.

I bought most of them off ebay. I bought the quarters yesterday for 1.57 each plus two bucks postage. I know I can at least double my money with these two.

If you only paid $1.57 for them, what makes you think somebody else will pay more than that ? I mean, they could have bought them at the same time you did if they wanted them. But they didn't !

Of course I will be the last person on the planet to ever doubt that there is a limit to the stupidity of some people on ebay.

This is a case where the plastic is worth more than the coin.

A Virgin Island quarter PCGS PR69DCAM is on sale on ebay right now. With 6 hours to go, the bid is up to nine bucks. Yeah, I guess I'll try to sell them.

The two dimes sold on ebay for 15 bucks, the half for 14, and the two quarters for five bucks total. I made about twenty bucks profit.

You're playing a very dangerous game.

Realize this, when you win an auction, you were the person willing to pay the most at that time. I know there are variables involved, but that very basic statement is truth.

20 bucks profit but how long did it take you to take pictures, list the item, and ship it? Unless you "Know" you can sell them are you want them for your collection, I would stay away from the common stuff.

  12. If you do not want them for your personal collection and can sell them for a profit, I would unload them NOW. TC

I have pretty good luck selling the newer stuff, but like you guys say, it's too risky. I can't believe the clad quarters only went for five. That's 2.50 each.

    Ebay's funny that way.

Did fees and shipping enter into that calculation?

That was the selling and shipping costs combined.

I hate to tell you this, but I can pick those same coins locally for $1-$1.50. You've invested $1.57+$2 postage on top.

    Good luck!

And children, we have a lesson in reading threads before you post here. He already sold them for a profit.

If everyone thought the same our hobby would be boring. Some people are crazy in love with the modern coins and sets. I also agree that Ebay is full of people bidding with abandon to be the winner lol. Slabbed coins and MS70 coins leave me scratching my head wondering what the buyer was thinking lately.

It shows you how dumb people are and ebay finds them all. I just wonder if the those same coins will be back on ebay again.
