i just picked up this partial mint set recently. all of the coins have pretty nice toning. i am very happy to acquire this set. enjoy :thumb:
Beautiful, I just wish it were not 1958 (it seems like that year produced more than its share of awesomely toned coins).
Like they say about wine - '58 was a very good year, when it comes to Mint Sets ! Not sure why that was as I could never discern any difference in the holders and I used to specialize in collecting these old sets. Here's a Frankie from one I used to own -
i say it has that big black dot ont he left. it doesnt fit intot he gd colection and i must say please tell us the century and not the last 2 years it gets confusing otherwise coming from you
It fit perfectly at the time spock. That's from when I collected US coins and as I said, specialized in original Mint & Proof sets. It was also before I ever heard of you. Ahhhhh - those were the days
57 and 58 both produced some of the best toners. It is believed the reason for that is from the pink and green paper used in those year sets. Here are 2 nice 58's actually from the set the OP posted
The paper used in 57 and 58 was used just in those sets. No other year sets had that color paper. The earlier years used an olive green colored paper.
Oh I agree it it was a different shade of green, and or pink, or blue. But the paper was the same in all sets except for color.
yes you were pretty lonely then and not buying unique coins. it is only after i landed from vulcan that you have had your second coming. we dont see you go wrong these days do we
