Beautiful, I just wish it were not 1958 (it seems like that year produced more than its share of awesomely toned coins).

Like they say about wine - '58 was a very good year, when it comes to Mint Sets ! Not sure why that was as I could never discern any difference in the holders and I used to specialize in collecting these old sets.

Here's a Frankie from one I used to own -

It fit perfectly at the time spock. That's from when I collected US coins and as I said, specialized in original Mint & Proof sets. It was also before I ever heard of you. Ahhhhh - those were the days :D

57 and 58 both produced some of the best toners. It is believed the reason for that is from the pink and green paper used in those year sets. Here are 2 nice 58's actually from the set the OP posted :)

They used the same colored paper in many years that rarely have colorfully toned examples.

The paper used in 57 and 58 was used just in those sets. No other year sets had that color paper. The earlier years used an olive green colored paper.

Oh I agree it it was a different shade of green, and or pink, or blue. But the paper was the same in all sets except for color.
