Your sailor is pretty hard to see, so how about one that is not hard to find! :D

If you enlarge the picture you can't help seeing the guy manning the tiller.

that's right. I'm sure its a minting artifact, but it sure is interesting with extreme blowup.

I can see the guy on the Columbian! Does anyone else see him?

Yes, Chris, "the guy on the Columbian" is none other than Christopher Columbus on the obverse side of the coin, engraved by Charles Barber.

I was joking because the one on Penny Ladies coin was so big. I was saying I couldnt see hers but could see the very tiny one on the other coin. It was sarcasm

I'm not, however. If you look on the image you can see what looks like a sailor on the square rigging in the middle.

Look in the two squares on the left just below the deck railing. You can see him sitting there facing right, drinking a cup of coffee and reading the morning paper.

Of course! It's as plain as day! :goofer:

I guess they had a printing press running off those papers each morning on their Atlantic crossing.

I shamefully admit that I wasn't thinking coins when I opened this thread.

Ah yes, PEX! ...and they chose to take a wooden sail masted boat for what reason, when there was clearly Air service capable of delivering printed news to a ship upon the waves bound for the Indies??? :rolling:
