George T. Morgan is the sailor on the boat. George T. Morgan engraved the reverse of the 1892-1893 World's Columbian Exposition Half Dollar. Morgan's initial "M" is concealed in the ship's rigging at the lower right of the mainsail. More info on the Columbian Exposition Half Dollar Commemorative History.
Charmy, I cant find yours. I saw the other one immediately but yours, I am having trouble seeing:goofer:
Yes, Chris, "the guy on the Columbian" is none other than Christopher Columbus on the obverse side of the coin, engraved by Charles Barber. Regards, krispy
I was joking because the one on Penny Ladies coin was so big. I was saying I couldnt see hers but could see the very tiny one on the other coin. It was sarcasm
I'm not, however. If you look on the image you can see what looks like a sailor on the square rigging in the middle. Ruben
Look in the two squares on the left just below the deck railing. You can see him sitting there facing right, drinking a cup of coffee and reading the morning paper. Chris
Of course! It's as plain as day! :goofer: I guess they had a printing press running off those papers each morning on their Atlantic crossing.
Ah yes, PEX! ...and they chose to take a wooden sail masted boat for what reason, when there was clearly Air service capable of delivering printed news to a ship upon the waves bound for the Indies??? :rolling:
