2010 Quarters...Anywhere?

What Mint...? Holograms? 24k gold? painted Hot Springs quarters? Where are you buying your "coins" from?

These are the AtBQ sets the US Mint sells.

Painted, stickered, holograms and gold plated coins are after market altered and are numismatically worthless.

I have a couple of comments about the new quarters.

First, demand by collectors seems to be VERY low for these first 2 designs. I can understand why... burn out from 11 years of the state quarters and territories. But if you look at the mintage on the first two 2010 quarters you would notice that it is quite low: about 30 million from each mint on the Hot Springs and it seems that Yellowstone will be about the same. Considering the lack of collector interest, along with the fact that quarters are quickly abused by vending machines... well, BU 2010 quarters may be tough to find years from now.

Second, the Yellowstone reverse is amazing!! I was stunned by how wonderful it looked when I first seen it in person. :thumb:

Here in Minneapolis the Yellowstone quarter is plentiful in BU, however I never saw a Hot Springs here, must be all about the demand. Does anyone know if the mintages are lower than the DC/Protectorates quarters?

 

Yes, they are lower.

I've yet to see any 2010 quarters.

 

I haven't seen a 2010 ("America the Beautiful ") quarter yet. Maybe a more appropriate slogan is "America the scarce" quarters ,pennies and nickels.
