Hey "Old Dan" as I said.."I can not believe that I fell off the boat"...thats my excuse and I am sticking to it  ...on the other hand..Speedy is young :hatch: and easily influenced..hahaha (just kidding Speedo) To be quite honest...I have been looking to incorporate 2002 gold into my collection since it's my son's birth year. I think it will be cool to have World Gold minted that year for him to have one day...so come on and take a walk on the "Darkside"...it does not bite that hard, just little nibbles RickieB
For me!, Iam workin on a type set (OLDER USA) pre-1900. Ones with great strikes, and low mintages, and TONEING!.
The set I'm focusing on now is IHC in VG+. I have also been working on a full set of Lincolns. Missing keys and some semi keys. 1955-D - 1959 are BU. No proofs yet. Missing 28 Wheats. 1909-S, S-VDB, 10-S, 11-D - 12-S, 13-D-S, 14-D-S, 15-D-S, 21, 22 plain, 23-S, 24-D, 26-S, 31 - 33-D, 55 DDO. Working on Franklins I'm working on a set of RAW BU-FBL Franklin Halves. I need nine more, yup, the key dates. I'm trying to get it finishes before the prices get out of hand. I have them in the new coinedge holders and I have to say that I'm really impressed with the way this system looks. I'll post a picture when I get home from work... here's the pictures...
Well, currently my main goal is to put together my gold Liberty set. By that, here is what I mean. I like the Liberty gold coin designs. So, I thought I'd put together a small set of 1 each of the Liberty denominations. So, what I'm looking at is as follows: $1 - Type 1, $2.5, $5, $10 and $20. I'm not sticking to a certain Type on the other denominations (as long as they're the Liberty designs), only thought I'd mention the $1. Would you call that a "Liberty Type Set"? I'm not sure. Oh, also just because I like that they're from a different century, I'm sticking in the 1800's. So, that rules out coins from 1900-1907 for me. I'm trying to just buy what I can afford for now and make sure that they have good eye appeal. I'm also trying to to buy that absolute most common coins if I can avoid it. So far, I have the $5 and $10. My $5 is an 1880-S graded AU58 and my $10 is an 1896 graded MS61. I may upgrade once the set is complete some day, who knows. The other thing I decided to do is buy a nice coin from each of my family member's birth years...one for Mom, Dad, brother, wife and me. So far, I haven't acquired any yet, but I've been looking. I'm not sure about denomination. I'm thinking about keeping them all the same denom., but not sure. Other than that, I just buy coins here and there that I like. I've got a few modern AGE, my 1831 half, modern platinum Eagle, etc. Oh, and just as of yesterday or so, I've got myself interested in acquiring a Russian gold coin or two. I'm thinking maybe 5 or 10 Rouble from around the Nicholas II period. We'll see! I almost forgot. I also like the Roman Imperial Bronzes. Those are neat! I've got a few right now. Octavius Augustus As, Caligula As, etc.
So far my Whitman Lincoln cents folders are complete from 1934 to 2005, not counting the 1970S small date. Took me 20 years to finish, lol... just finished recently. May work on getting all the pre-1934 pennies next, little by little, at least the more affordable ones. Though if I do get the 1909 S VDB will just put a note in the folder saying ""See in separate holder" lol... not going to just pop that into a book!
I'm still plugging away at the same stuff: Date set of Morgans (MS64 or better) with the exception of a few sticklers. Dansco 7070 Type Set...more than 50% complete. XF or better. Joe's birthyear bullion set...I've pretty much exhausted the world silver, now it looks as though I'll have to start including ...(yikes) gold. I'm also in the early stages of a Walker set...can't decide which path to take...short set or not? Plus a few other random goodies that I tend to snag along the way, with no rhyme or reason other than they simply catch my eye
What I am working on Barber Dimes,in a Dansco. Slabbed Walker short set in 64. I am collecting just generic world coins from all over just cause I like them. I am going to start a British collection soon, don't really know what yet. Want to also do Barber quarters and halves. Tony

Lots of sets in the works, probably about 75-100, but the Civil War token sets remain as my main priority. Several groupings are a higher than normal priority. Ohio issueing cities, have 57 of 102 (have a few more not logged into my system yet) All issueing cities, have 153 of 400 (some not yet logged in, but no one has ever completed this set) Some issueing STATES have cwt pops of 10 or less. Shafer/Cincinnati (namesake) have 4 of 15 Warren, Ohio (hometown) have 1 of 2 (have never seen the other offered for sale) Oliver Boutwell, Miller have 32 of 39 (plus 1 unlisted) still need an R5, (2) R8s, (2) R9s & (2) R10s. Those last 6 OBM tokens have a combined TOTAL population range of 14-30 to give an idea of how tough even a typical short set of cwts can be. I agree wholeheartedly. Just today I won an R8 (5-10 known) cwt that was not identified for only $5. Its not in very good condition, but its still an R8.
I am backing off on most coins to get serious about another set of Franklin Halves in PCGS MS65. That's about it for now
