9 to a page slab sheets

Picked these up today at Target 30 sheets to a pack for $5. UltraPro hologram series. I've tried other baseball card plastic sheets, but these are much better because they don't come apart when inserting the slabs. :thumb:



I have no affiliation with the product, but wanted to point them out for those who might be looking for sheets. :kewl:

At Target? Really?
Wow that is pretty nice, I've always thought about getting some of those, just to see what I thought, but I will just stick to my storage boxes.

 

I prefer the storage boxes, too! I can put more than twice as many slabs in storage boxes in the same shelf space that would be needed for 3 binders holding 108 slabs.

A lot cheaper than Eagle pages.

 

I keep my raw coins in these boxes , they also make racks to fit in slabs, and or any other size coin or medal you have . You can also get boxes with as many as 16 racks.

 

This is how I store my personal collection as well, but I had no idea Target sold these!

 

I have hundreds of these upstairs...

But not a single slabbed coin, haha.

 

Doesn't this allow your coins to move around?
Trays like these were the origin of light wear on coins resulting in the term "sliders".
Took coins from MS- to AU-.
Or am I missing something.

 

I've never used these, but I think you can get each tray with a specific size of compartment, i.e., dollars, half dollars, quarters, etc., but I still would have the same concern that you mentioned.

thats exactly what i use to put my jefferson slabs in. i have so many left over from when i use to collect baseball cards.

 

I don't think he means that the coins are "naked" and not in some kind of holder. Most likely they are in some kind of flip or cardboard 2 x 2 if they are not in certified holders, so the coin will not actually be touching another coin. Also, if I am not mistaken, and I'm showing my age here, the term sliders is used for an AU coin that is very close to MS, like AU58.

 

Cabinet friction was caused by wooden cabinets , my drawers are lined in velvet. And they don't move around because I tell them not to do so .... You can get these to fit anything from a penny like a whiteman album or a 2x2 or a slab ... you just have to buy the correct size drawers.

 

Charmy, his coins appear to be "nekked" in the trays.

Since you say they are an exact fit, I assume that you have to use gloves to remove them. I also assume that each compartment has a slight drop-off near one side so that you can press down on it to extract the coin. Wouldn't this cause the coin to rub against the fabric? Velvet or not, it still has a texture to it that could chafe the coin.

Just look at these http://www.colonialacres.com/numiscoinbriefcase.shtml , Also mine are square holes so it makes lifting a circle within a square quite simple since you can grab it from the four corners. I guess you could use gloves but I have always handled my coins by the edges and never damaged a coin or touched an obverse or reverse. My box stays in place so I don't worry about rub and most of the good pieces that are blast white are in air tites.

 

Appreciate the tip. I checked at my local Target no luck, nothing on the corporate web site either. Any chance you could provide the UPC label numbers to help us locate these? Thanks

 

Considering the percentage of raw coins that problem coins, that might not be the best collecting policy.

Ahh, most of my collection is from when I was a kid, so...

On a side note, I purchased my first slabbed coin about 3 hours after I made that post.

 

Hence the term "cabinet wear".
