I thought that with all the new members here,it would be nice to hear what everyone is in the process of doing with their collection. What holes are you trying to fill, what is it that your currently trying to complete? I'll start,I am one of the many Morgan fans out there.I've got a couple more to go to complete a date run, including the keys, before I'll go back and start upgrading some of my current holdings. Also in the process of putting together years sets. What are YOU currently working on? B12

I'm working on trying to keep myself from buying everything. :)

I've got the Morgan fixation under control - I'm switching to a concentration on PL/DMPL coins. So, I've got a dozen or two to sell, which will help finance other stuff. I'm holding myself to MS Barber dimes and quarters, which slows me down since I'm poor. I've stayed away from halfs so far.

The only real problem is I've discovered Large Cents look very nice in XF-AU.......

I can't believe both you and Speedy fell for that old trick of Doug's. He's been playing that one so long that everyone in Salt Lake has those coins with old guys in their longjohns. I'm thinking of buy just one, to keep him from buying them all. Naw! Just kidding Doug.

I'm working on deciding if I want to work on anything. In the meantime:

    1. I'm always on the lookout for bargain priced gold and silver coins because I'm admittedly more of an investor who likes coins than a "real collector,"

    2. filling cent, nickel, dime, quarter and halve Whitman albums from pocket change and rolls because it's inexpensive, relaxing and fun, and

    3. dabbling in exonumia, because a lot of it is old, historical, maybe underappreciated, and less expensive than regular US or Canadian Mint issue coins.

I strongly suspect there is virtually no chance I'll ever complete a type set or date/mintmark set because that sort of standard collecting approach just doesn't fit me.

I'm still working on my set of uncirculated Mercury dimes. It's getting more expensive as I get down into the 20s and 10s. My most recent purchases were a 1936-D MS63 FB and a 1928 MS65 FB (which I paid dearly for).

In addition, I'm also working on my 2¢ and nickel 3¢ piece collections.

When I'm not doing that, I buy shiny Morgan dollars, better grade Indian Head cents, and Walking Liberty Halves.

I am trying to fill up collections by date and mintmark of Lincoln pennies, Jefferson nickels, and Kennedy half dollars, as I find them. But mainly trying to get a type set put together... at least get on of each major type of US coin since 1850, not counting gold or commemoratives.

Am hoping to be able to get large cents soon... and get the last two obsolete non-gold denominations, 1/2 cent and 20 cent. Tried to get a 20 cent piece on eBay recently, but got outbid. It's hard to find one in nice enough condition to see it for what it is and still not be so high I can't afford it, lol. 20-cent pieces has such a short run that even a common date one (as common as they ever were anyway) are pretty expensive.
