What question would you ask?

I would ask to see the Engravers Archives, their log and sketch books, where and how they worked. Then I would ask to see the entire library of BEP sketch books.

    Nice Thread Darryl..:) :)

Thanks Rick! Wouldn't that be a great experience! Reminds me of a time at the space center when I had the opportunity to go through am many of the nasa photos as I wanted to. I was only in that office for a couple hours but I could have spent days/weeks/months there just looking at the old space program photos. What a great idea to look back at some of the ideas the engravers have had over time. I am sure they would reflect the times to a certain extent! That would be an experience!

    Hope all is well!

    Thanks ~ Darryl

nice idea Rickie I'm sure the sketch books of the engravers would be like a window into the mind of some of our famous engravers as they developed ,and perhaps some vignettes that were better then the actual notes they were used on ,or on some that were never used.[IMG]

    Connor1...

That Book from Gene Hessler is one of the most readable books I own..hard to put down to say the least! We (those who took me up on the deal) were lucky enough to get it personalized by him. My answers to this Thread is actually what he got to do many many years ago. Gene, if you are still reading on this forum after all the ugliness that went on, thanks for all you did for us in getting these books. I am sure everyone appreciates it very much.

    Regards,

    1) Are you hiring?

    2) Can I be paid in cash? ...low SN star notes preferable. :D

P.S. I posted a collection of video links on my profile page related to the BEP and currency printing.
There's one link from the Travel Channel that show a brief behind the scenes tour.

A bump for an old thread, to see what some of our new members would ask. :)
