Typically, wear is used to hide tooling and other Tom Foolery. I will admit, it baffles me why someone would counterfeit a $50 coin, but it does happen.
If you have a problem with that coin, try explaining these; http://cgi.ebay.com/Replica-1957-Lin...item5888613775 http://cgi.ebay.com/Replica-1956-D-L...item588861376d I figure the authentic coins is worth about 3¢.
OK, try these 2 (he has relisted them); http://cgi.ebay.com/Replica-1957-Li...em&pt=Coins_US_Individual&hash=item3a5c58002c http://cgi.ebay.com/Replica-1956-D-...em&pt=Coins_US_Individual&hash=item3cae8af44a or here you can buy nearly the whole set; http://shop.ebay.com/china.512/m.ht...kw=&_osacat=0&bkBtn=&_trksid=p3911.m270.l1313
well, I guess if you live long enough you will see pretty much everything and here's something that until now I had not seen. :goofer: I certainly can't for the life of me explain why anyone would want a replica of a 1957 or a 1956-D cent, but who knows? Maybe someone really will bid. I'm going to keep them on my watch list and see if anyone bids. If someone does, I am going to try to politely ask them why...
I can explain why I want a 1957 or a 1956-D cent. I am still looking for both in 67 - that I can afford. But these replicas at least look like they are even circulated. As for the real ones when circulated, I am still not sure if I want to save them of spend them.
I never spend them, but I always cull stuff like that from circulation for the express purpose of giving it away to kids interested in the hobby.
