I was musing at the folders and albums for collecting Lincoln Cents and I began wondering why the natural breaks in the series haven't been utilized as the major changes occur.

Why is the 1909 - 1940 and 1941 - 1975 seem sacrosanct when logic would dictate that two albums or folders dividing the 140 coins in the Wheat Reverse series is a natural break? A holder for 1909 - 1933 holding 69 coins and one for 1934 - 1958 holding 71 coins just makes more sense to me. Then two more for the Memorial Series and now start the Shield series. The specialty Lincolns between can go either way or have a separate short series folder. Now if too many folders/albums is an issue, then make each a one volume series an just a bit thicker.

Anyway, I thought I'd start a thread having NOTHING to do with Large Cents or politics.

They're sacrosanct because that's how many fit into the original Whitman folders. I agree that the breaks you mention make far more sense from a numismatic standpoint.
