    Hi,
I am new to coin collecting and I decided to start with Lincoln Memorial pennies for the sake of affordability. I started looking through my change today and I noticed that a lot of the pennys have no mintmark. Does this necessarily mean that they are P "mintmarks" from Philedelphia? Were they made any place else beside Denver or Philly? How else would I know the mintmark of the coin?

Also, are there ever more than one mintmark for the same year?

    Welcome!!!:hail:

The Philadelphia cents don't have a mintmark. Some cents may be missing mintmarks due to errors in minting. San Francisco (S) is the other mint.

Yes there are more than one mintmark each year D; S; and none (Philadelphia).

Collecting Lincoln cents are a lot of fun. In addition to the CoinTalk search function (to search for Lincoln's etc.) these two sites will give you a lot of information:

Like I said in your opening thread in the "welcome" section, welcome to coin talk.
There is a lot you can learn here on the forum but there are also a few things you need to know about posting. If you ask a question in one section, wait a bit and see if it gets answere before asking the same question in another. Also, a lot of people on the net are purest and will flame you for referring to the Lincoln cents as "pennies". I, along with a bunch of other people on here, dont care but just be careful so you dont have a lot of people telling you they are cents.
Here is a link to a couple of threads started by Charmy about etiquette on online forums. Theyn will give you some more info about posting on here. Also, the two websites that Ilandiggit posted are great referance but I would also recommend you get some books like the red book and the official guide to Lincoln cents. They will help you a ton.

Though the absence of a mintmark generally means the coin was produced at the Philadelphia Mint, you may find it interesting to note that some Lincoln Memorial Cents were produced at the West Point Mint during the 1970s and 1980s and that those cents also bear no mintmark, making them indistingushible from the true Philadelphia cents.

    Welcome to CT! :)

Memorial cents are a great place to start! However, you'll soon see that putting together a complete collection of them from circulation coins is nearly impossible. Nonetheless.....HAVE FUN!

I think that in 1965-1967 there were no mintmarks but they could have been produced at any of the active mints. There is no way to tell (that I know of).

Yeah, I had to buy a few of the key ones, but I completed the set (Lincoln Memorials, starting 1959) two years ago! It only took 23 years!!!
