I purchased a p,d & s dansco & whitman album for the new parks qtrs . i got my 2 proof sets already my question is i dont want to substitute the business strike park qtrs for the (nifc satin finish ones) for my 2 albums The 2010 uncirculated set goes on sale 7/15/2010 witch contain the satin finish park qtrs witch i dont want what would be the most cost effetive way to get 2 sets of just the gem bu business stike park qtrs ?
Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but the only way I know that you can get the business strikes is to order either the rolls or bags. The only other alternative to ordering from the Mint is to wait until dealers have them and buy them on the open market. Of course you could also pray that your bank might get them, but if you're an easterner, you will only get Philly rolls and westerners will only get Denver. Chris
If you are willing to pay a premium the mint is offering a subscription for circulating coins and uncirculated (both can be found on the subscription page). Ebay. If you don't want to buy rolls for three times their worth from the mint, use Ebay. I buy them there to keep up and have never paid more than 75 cents for a P+D BU set. Guy~
I beg to differ unless you you are saying what I am thinking in different terms...the only way to get a satin finish coin is through buying the mint/uncirculated set. Yes chris you are correct, you can only get the business strikes through the bags.
I think ChurnDog has it right. It seems the mint will (finally) be offering a business strike set listed as the “circulating coin set” for the AtB quarters, in addition to the “uncirculated coin set” which would be the satin finish coins found in the mint sets. So you won’t have to rely on bags/rolls or ebayers for business strikes. At least I hope that’s what the circulating set will be, and really hope they wise up and offer a circulating set for all coins, so this whole satin mess can finally end. :rolling:
If you're going to try to get rolls from your bank, I trade my Denver rolls for your Philly rolls - that is if I get the Denver rolls. I'm checking a few banks now, so should get them eventually. I have an ad now in the open section to trade state quarter rolls. So PM me if you're interested. We should be able to set up enough trades so all on CT who want to trade, can. No satins, huh? Those are the almost matte proof, low mintage examples. Until Whitman et al provide holes for both business strike and satins, I fill them with satins. My business strikes can sit in rolls, other than the circulated ones the kids are putting in maps. Although, my higher grade satins go into Air-Tites. Just a note about albums. When these sets were first announced and listed in Coin World the Mint press release said the coins in the "Uncirculated" set would be satin finish. So the circulating set will be business strikes and the "Uncirculated" will be satin. It comes from how the Mint refers to the coins they make. When they say Uncirculated they mean special non-proof coins intended for special sets. They use the term Proof the same as we do and what we call business strikes they call circulated or circulating coins.
