I like this coin. It"s one of my favorite. Paraguay, 300 guaranies 1968, silver .720, weight - 26,6 g., mintage - 250000. "President A. Stroessner".
Yes, it looks interesting, and I know that the lion with the Phrygian cap in the background is the seal of the finance ministry. But I think it is odd that a man like Stroessner would be combined with that cap which is a symbol of liberty ... The "funniest" piece of that kind was issued in 1988, by the way. 10,000 guaranies, same style, except it had the dates of Stroessner's 8th term: "1988-1993". Too bad that a year later he was no longer president. Christian
I have one of the 300 Guaranies also: I have some others, they are all similar to this one: Paraguay 50 Centimos 1951 I spent two weeks in Paraguay in 1981.
This is the 10.000 Guaranies one. Mintage of 1.000. There were also some minted in gold but I haven't any of those.
