Is there an easier way to search their figures instead of going through 180 pages of cumulative index?
Not that I've found. It would be nice if they made it a download-able spreadsheet or some such thing. Or provided a "summary" screen with running totals.
Latest update shows 9,405 for the unc clad half dollar. It's not going to be a new record. [edit] OP referenced the unc silver dollar, which stands at 8,044, so still in the running I suppose.
At $40, the price on that clad commemorative half dollar is way too high. Didn't they used to sell for $12 or less? Now they are too expensive for many YNs. Time was the mint mounted these in educational cards at YN friendly prices. No more.
I take it that you are a westerner. That horse threw Tom Mix off and he's nowhere to be seen. I bought the gold and the silver, although at my age, I quit riding, I do like the coins. I am trying to collect all of the American Limited Gold and Silver. I haven't gotten the 2015 yet. Although the MMIX (2009) Ultra High Relief $20 Gold Coin isn't a limited, I think it's a beaut. I bought it about 10 years ago. I only own a couple of Pre-33 gold coins, I got them a couple of weeks before the MMIX.
The first clad commemorative half dollar was the 1986 Statue of Liberty. They were $6.50 pre issue and $7.50 regular price. And that included the $2.50 surcharge. The price started to go crazy with the 2011 Army half dollar. The 2008 Bald Eagle was still in the $10 to $12 range, but the Army half dollar jumped to $20 for the Unc and $22 for the proof. The 2014 Baseball was $23 and $24. 2015 US Marshals dropped to $18 and $19. 2016 National parks though had a big jump to $25 and $26. 2017 Boys Town dropped again $21 and $22. 2018 Breast cancer was $27 and $28. 2019 Apollo broke the thirty dollar level with $31 and $33. I don't have the prices of the 2020 and 2021 coins at the moment but the 2022 coins are $38 and $40. These prices are crazy for a denomination that originally added to the commemorative programs so there would be an issue that children could collect.
Mint is showing the uncirculated dollar is unavailable and the mintage came in low. So I bought one. Shouldn't have, but the MS70 does look great. Next year, the only modern thing I buy is the silver proof set, honest.
How come I never get new posts or threads anymore? I've checked my settings, but can't figure out why. I've never bought from the Mint.
I think it's a known issue but I don't know the details. You may want to start a new thread or search out the subject. I know others have brought it up.
The sad part is the mint has jacked up the price so much on the clad commemorative half dollars that they are beyond the price range of many young collectors. The mint has become a profit center for the Treasury. You can’t tell me that they have to charge over $40 for these coins based on cost.
Back in the mid 90s when I started getting more active in coin collecting and reading Numismatic publications like Numismatic News, and Coins Magazine in the Letters section the biggest complaint was the poor service of the US Mint...canceled orders, orders getting lost etc. That turned me off in buying anything from the Mint.
I missed the Purple Heart releases. I just now picked up the colorized Dollar and the uncirculated Half via everybody’s favorite auction site (or not). Both in original packaging. The Dollar cost about $30 over issue and the Half was $.05 under. Both with free shipping. Other than these, nothing from the Mint is calling my name for the foreseeable future. Really wanted these two coins as they are very respectable designs in my opinion. Something I never thought would happen given their recent track record of bleh. Rick L.
Just ordered a few of these .... wish they were available in gold, although it might cost less than the bronze ones lol excerpt
US MINT is apparently looking for some new artists .... excerpt https://www.usmint.gov/news/press-r...NewsLetter&cm_mmca2=NewsRelease&cm_mmca3=&cc=
