Just won this one today using the good old fashioned unassisted snipe. (That means i watch the bids carefully and manually bid with 15 seconds left, i do not use a program) I will be upgrading a spot in my type set with this one. I am thinking ms 64 rd. What do you think?[IMG][IMG]

Very nice, it has a matte-like fields. I have an 09VDB like that.

Your lighting/white balance makes it hard to see the true color and to get a feel for the surface condition. I might go 65RD based on those pictures, but I suspect they are not telling the whole story.

The pics are the sellers pics, and i thought the white balance was a little juiced. But at $25 i think i picked a diamond out of the rough.

Forgive my ignorance Zaneman, but how do you arrive at that conclusion?

The surfaces are too bright for the light wear seen on the coin, and the surfaces in general dont flow right indicating alteration.

    BINGO!

The coin looks 'matte' but it also looks polished.
The photos are terrible, white balance is off and lighting isn't that great.
There is no way to say anything good from those photos, so I'd have to agree with that assessment Zane.

I gave it the benefit of the doubt, but my first instinct was polished. The obverse is just too glossy looking....it may have even been whizzed.

You guys are way harsh. There is nothing to suggest whizzing or cleaning on this coin.

Really? I'm seeing a coin won on a snipe bid, for a 'bargain' price, with absolutely terrible photos, with a clear impression of polishing all over the obverse of the coin and I am surprised you don't see it.

    And guess what?
You have to be harsh judging coins you buy off of eBay (I'm guessing that is where you bought it) with terrible photos.

I'm not going to argue with anybody. Thanks for your input. I bow to your clearly superior knowledge. I too shall accept my lashes with the noodle.

We're just being honest based on the information given. Don't take it so hard. There's a lot of experienced collectors on this forum. Isn't that why you posted? Would you rather we all lie and say "WOW, that's an MS-69"?

Exactly. The second you, Kevo, start hearing things you don't want to hear, for some reason you ignore it and disagree with it, you haven't even seen the coin in hand yet. Go ahead and take pictures when you get it in, please, prove me that I'm wrong, that this is an uncleaned, PR69 MPL that you got at a steal.

Who said anything about pr69? Initially i posted my opinion of ms64. You are exaggerating in an attempt to P*&^ me off. No need to be disrespectful. You are entitled to your opinion. You are not entitled to be insulting about it.

The 69 came from BadThad and was just that an exaggeration.
I could care less if you get angry at me, you are on a public forum and you ask for opinions of others and that is exactly what you are getting. If you think I'm being disrespectful, I'm sorry you feel that way, just giving me opinion, and after I gave it you said I was being too harsh, and you know nothing more about this coin, than we do.

Although i pride my self in having the thick skin needed in this hobby, it seems as though i may have gotten a little miffed at the suggestion that i got duped on fleabay. I am well aware of the hazards of buying raw on the bay, and knowingly took a gamble on this one. I apologize for the negative comments. No offense, i know you are just giving some honest input. When i have the cent in hand i will post some honest pics and then we can do it all over again.

Harshly cleaned. Very obviously polished. Just takes some familiarity of looking at pics to spot the tell tale signs. It will be obvious in hand to the OP and I hope he can post some pics when he gets the coin. Also, learning how to take pics of coins will help you see how the tell tale signs are easily spotted in others' coin images.

I agree with Zane, but it could be the photos.
