Is this a proof shield nickel?

    It really looks like a proof strike, but just wanted to confirm. I have very little experience with older proof coins. Also any ideas on the grade?

    IMHO: Unc, nice and semi PL, but an Unc.

    Please take note too that it has more of a matte finish doesn't a business strike have more of a smooth surface similar to that of a BU V nickel?

    I don't think it is a proof, but it is one nice coin. I would like to see pictures out of the 2x2 also - looks to be mid-ms. Certainly looks nice.

    Many thanks to all of you for your replies. Sadly I do not have any other pics of it to show you guys it was one I was going to buy. Its a very pretty one. but if its not a proof its probably not worth the asking price. So you guys just saved me $300!
     
  10. I would put it in a different holder. The staples on this one could rust and ruin the coin
