Yes I have in the past when they were located in Abita Springs,LA before Katrina hit. Most of there coins are a bit overgraded from what they state but as long as you bit according to what you think the grade is, you should be fine. Do watch the toned coins they offer though.

I've noticed that their pics are maybe a little juiced. I also think that they over grade them. Just know what you are doing before you buy.

No matter how many times it has been said to stay away from this seller and never touch anything they have up for sale with a 10 foot pole, the threads always come up about them.

GSC are one of the best in the business at editing their photos. The virtually get rid marks on the coin, and hide a lot of things. They will use overexposure and different white balance and color management to make coins look nothing like they would in hand.
This seller should never be trusted.

    My favorite subject – GSC

    From experience :

    1) All their photos are juiced up to cover problems
    2) They overgrade all their raw coins by at least 3 grade points
    3) They sell a lot of problem coins that would only make it into a details holder

Rule number one for purchasing coins on EBAY – Only purchase raw from a trusted seller unless you want to set yourself up for overgraded cleaned problems coins .

    Rule number two – don’t purchase raw :-}

I've never bought from them, nor do I intend to. I don't trust their pics.

I don't disagree with many of the comments I see here. They do (as most eBay sellers do) overstate their grades. I take that into account when bidding.

Many of the Liberty nickels I've received from them have exceeded expectations. I guess I've just been luckier than most.

Have you ever sent any of their coins in for grading ??

Sure...all of them. They all come back no more than one grade different than I thought they were. I had a few (four, as I recall) Liberty nickels I thought would grade MS64 and they came back MS65.

In 2006, (this is one of my favorite eBay purchases) I bought an 1860 "pointed bust" IHP from GSC that NGC graded MS65BN. I don't think I paid over $200 it.

I almost never bid on their auctions anymore because the prices people are bidding are way out in left field.

EDIT: The easy thing for me to do is agree with everyone, but that hasn't been my experience (sorry). I'm quick to trash anyone that cuts me a bad deal (like the US Mint)...if GSC does, y'all will be the first to hear about it. :loud:

So you are telling me that you never had a coin come back non gradable ??
Or you never purchased a coin from GSC that you had to send back .

If this is the case you are in the minority .

I purchased 4 coins from them in 2008 . All were grossly overgraded and one was cleaned.

IMO all those proof coins they offer up and not one of them is in a holder puts up a warning flag in my mind and the fact the photos all look to be the same deep cameo proofs makes me think they fiddle with the white balance on their photos.

I've followed GSC's listings since I started buying on eBay but I rarely buy single coins and they have some nice looking coins and always seem to get premium prices but something in my gut always kept me from bidding on anything they had.

I for one appreciate this thread. This is the first one I have seen about GSCs.

The premium prices you see is proof how naïve inexperienced people can be in this hobby .
