Hi When I bought this coin . the seller told me that it is an Achaemenid satraps coins . I searched the Achaemenid book catalogue an any mor references bu can not find the coin like this . what is your idea?
My idea i never saw a coin like it i think it's real with the printing on the coin kinda beat up on the close up pic but i would treasure that for a very... very.. long time!:kewl:
Would there be a good coin museum near you to ask for? At least here in Finland I have asked a couple of times of unknown old coins via email from the local national museum. They were very knowledgeable and kindly to response and I'm sure that it's the same in your country too. Museum staff is always very flattered when asking something from them :smile
It is georgeous. You are on the right section of this forum - Ancients. I can almost guarantee you will get some help soon. Nice of you to join. Welcome!
Thanks rockdude for your philosophic answer. It is clear that you have very study . but I bought this silver coin only 3 cents.
I'm not sure of this issue or who is the man with the bulging tumor on the side of his face , but for 3 cents I wouldn't loose too much sleep over it. If it's silver ... congratulations , and if it turns out to be a real piece , well that would be fantastic as I never scored a silver ancient for under 10$
