Besides the "no FG" I read somewhere that there is an "accented hair" variety that I guess Jacqueline Kennedy did not like and they changed it on the following issues.

Here is a page with some pictures of some Kennedys:

Here is a web site that appears to have a bunch of info on "Kennedy Half Dollar Errors":

On a whim I picked up four rolls of nickels and four rolls of pennies while I was at the bank today. Nothing terribly exciting. Two wheat pennies and a 1941 nickel. Interesting things to show the kids, and I had fun looking through them.

Got like $15 worth of coins for $1.50 at bank... Two 40% silver half dollars (1968 and 1969) and ONE FRANKLIN HALF IN XF+!!!!!!!! (1958)

Went through my first 2 boxes of halves this week. Here are the results...

    Box 1

    1-90%
    8-40%
    1-1951 Franklin
    1-1988 Proof

I was pretty pleased with these results, for my first box ever.

    Box 2

    3-40%

Obviously not as good, but I guess thats the nature of the game...some good, some not so good. I was glad I didn't get skunked. I also found 5 that were 2002 and newer. Not sure if they are worth much now, but I saved them.

Also got 3 customer rolls from my regular bank, with zilch.
1 more box coming next week.

    Very nice finds---now you're hooked!

You should definitely save the 2002+ coins. They were minted in very low numbers (some of them less than 2 million pieces each). They have some of the lowest mintage numbers of the entire series.

here is one of the silvers i got from the old jug of grandmas coins. the reverse toning is more goldish then black. its harder then i thought it was going to be to photograph toned coins. the other coin was a '67, that has light gold tone around the rims. i am going to play around with it, to try and get a good picture.

    1911S in a Cent Box!

Someone must have cashed in their collection, to have a 1911 to show up in a $25 Cent box! I'm guessing this cent could be graded as at least Fine, maybe Very Fine? The coin is very dark, by the way.

Its coins like this that keep me going back for more. But I must admit I'm getting tired of all the 1982s, 1977s, and the ones leaving me wondering how a coin could become so messed up!

I don't roll search too often, and mainly I just do nickels when I feel the urge or when I have a little time to spare. This past week I picked up $10 worth of N.F. String & Son Inc. type rolls with the machine crimped ends. I found my first Buffalo, a 1920 and virtually dateless, but with most of the rim. The date doesn't show in the images well, but under a loupe and the right angle of raking light I can make out the "20" part of the date. It's really nothing too special, as this is one of the more common date Buffalos, but it is my first that I've found by roll searching.

I also pulled a completely blackened, possibly spooned and battle weary 1943-P war nickel, even the lamination is falling apart! It weighs just 4.44 grams in this condition. Must have been at the front line.

There were also a few less spectacular finds in these few rolls, but I pull most anything prior to 1964: a '46, '47-D and 2x'58 nickels.

I've been searching about $20 in nickels each week for the last 2 years or so.
Found about 8 war nickels, 2 buffalos, a 1907 liberty, and even a '50 D. I am about to give up, though, the last $ 100 has yielded virtually nothing, just a '56 D, and a few like that. The 'pickens have been getting mighty slim lately. :(

Don't give up. Maybe take a break, switch to halves a while. Ask for Ikes and look for varieties or something. I know they are far and few in between when we can get them in banks these days. I've been fortunate enough to come across a few war nickles this year already, 3 in the last 3 months now. :smile

    hamman88 Spare some change, sir?

Make sure your not searching rolls that you already gave back to the bank.
