Is It Special? Gold coin. I added Pics in the Replys.

I got this coin a few years back. I think it is a 1/10 krugerrand, but when I try to find it on the web, I can only find the 1/10 with the profile head shot with a long beard. My coin has a front portrait shot of a different man.

What is this and is it special?

I put a couple pics of the coin in my albums.

    Thanks for the input.

There is a gold Krugerrand coin that comes in a 1/10 oz size but the coin in that picture is not a Krugerrand. I believe that it is a 2 Rand gold coin.

Here is some more information on this coin:

On eBay the thing should fetch $300-$350. ;)
    That should cover value...

Awh, excellent. That was exactly what I was looking for. I guess they're only worth their weight in gold. :) Nothing special about them.

Thanks for the reply. I greatly appreciate it.

    They're goin' on Ebay tonight.

Really? I thought it would only go for the actual gold value, about $125.00.

Recent 2 Rands have sold in the $300 price range and a bit higher.
A coin isn't valued just by it's content...but by it's numismatic value, determined by supply of original mintage and demand.

Here is a recent one that sold just under $300.

I'd say yours would get around this and no more than $350. Really closer to the $280-$300 range.

Actually, I think that he was referring to the 2 Rand gold coin that contains .2354 oz of gold. That is slightly less than 1/4 oz of gold and $300-$325 sounds about right for that amount of gold. You might want to weigh it to see how much it weighs.

Tmoneyeagles, If I am wrong on this, then feel free to correct me.

EDIT: I will go with what Tmoneyeagles said about what it will sell on ebay.

    Just checked Ebay. Wow!!!!!!! :mouth::mouth::mouth:

They're on there for about $350.00 a piece.

    Wow!!!!!

I bought two of them a few years back for $112.00 for both.

OK I'm stoked now. What to buy? What to buy?

    Thanks Bud.

According to Numismaster the coin contains .2355 ounces of 0.917 gold. I think me and you were referring to the right coin, and the original poster was a bit confused.

This coin is not a 1/10 of gold, it is in no way a tenth ounce Krugerrand.

How many years ago did ya' buy them, and where did you buy them?
It would be cool, turning a profit on these things by over double. ;)

Man, I should have bought a bunch of those. To bad I didn't have the cash back then. Gold has really gone up.

I bought them on Ebay about 4 - 5 years ago. I had actually bought them by mistake, as I remember. I was new to Ebay and accidentally put a bid on them when I didn't mean to. I ended up winning them and didn't want to back out because it was my mistake. At the time, it was a lot of money to me.
