Hey guys, I thought this was a pretty little lass so I thought I would throw down some pics. Care to offer grade opinions and attribution, good folks of CT ?
I would grade it MS-62-63. Ill be home later and look it up in Overton & see if I can supply an attribution. (Im at work) Outstanding Bust, Love the toning. Very nice coin. Steve
I am going to guess that it is unc and that what I am seeing on the bust is the result of a weak strike. MS-63
Doug knows, he was there when they stuck it, and put it in his pocket...... Doug is so old that .... oops wrong thread.
Very nice. I'll call it AU-53+. There appears to be considerable wear on her cheek and bust, but the areas are well hidden by the photograph.
Yep, that is what I was seeing, along with some wear in the hair. AU55 for me, but it wouldn't surprise me if a TPG slabbed it at MS62 all day long.
Going by the official ana book on grading I see a slight bit of wear on the hair above Liberties eyes, and some on the talons, so I would say it is a 58. That said, A few weeks ago one of my local dealers showed me a slabbed capped bust that was graded a 58, the OPs coin has that one beat every way. So I could see it being graded ms.
I have to ask to those of you who said MS63, are you just ignoring the wear on the coin, or are you grading solely on what you think a TPG would say? I'm seeing wear guys, can't just throw wear out the window. Here is a MS63 for y'all, this coin is much sharper. http://coins.ha.com/common/view_item.php?Sale_No=384&Lot_No=3176#Photo
I do not believe I am seeing any wear. I think it is all from a weak striking. The fact that the details are not there does not mean they have been worn off - particularly from that era.
I agree with physics-fan3.14 that the cheek is worn. And there is wear that I'm seeing above the eye in the hair. I can't bring myself to thinking that those spots are due to weak strike. I can believe that some other spots in the hair might have been contributed by a weak strike though.
