PeacePeople Wall St and stocks, where it's at

It is almost to the point where it is not worth perusing ebay any more. Don't take that the wrong way. There are still good sellers there, but every time I go there to look it seems there are more and more copies and replicas, or coins with bad photos, misinformation or just shady dealings than there have been in the past.

I'm to the point where I check out the 8-10 dealers that list and have been honorable in past experience and just bypass the rest. I'm honestly so tired of weeding through the fluff and smoke and mirrors that it's tiring, and no longer worth the effort. Honestly, most of the dealers I deal with, I will check out the listings and then call them and ask if they will sell it to me and at how much. If it's what I think is fair, I buy, if not I pass. (before you get bent out of shape, I've never asked anybody to end an auction)

I'm not sure of a solution, but I can see a problem, and they have one. Right now, it's a very big one.

LIBERTY is completely out of position. The "1" in the date is out of position. Parts of the motto are slightly out of position. Even the beard appears to be slightly different.

the most obvious is the lettering in the motto is off side to side not up and down and side to side as the lettering in liberty and the date.

I contacted the seller and asked if they knew what they were selling was a fake. The lister, Lorrie, said it wasn't her coin but was selling it for someone else. She put me in contact with he seller and he said that he bought it at, you guessed it, a flea market. He couldn't afford to have it authenticated so I suggested that he post it here and let the people here with some actual knowledge unofficially authenticate it. We'll see if he is just trying to make someone else pay for his mistake or if he really didn't know. He did mention that it was all a moot point since the auction was pulled anyway. :hail:

The best fakes are the easy ones to spot. :mouth:

I'm just curious how coins like these are produced.
