If you can see the black dot about 7:00 o'clock on the coin. that how the hole Obverse around the face was.
I am sure now I could crack it out and send off to Anacs or Icg and have a grade put on it.but only if the price goes up on the coin.

    Jello,

ANACS or ICG may only give it a details grade as well for environmental damage, so you might be throwing good money after bad.

I forgot and tried to load a tiff scan. Wouldn't take --too large. So I went to Picasa3 and bought back as jpeg.

I'm surprized acetone did that well. At least the surface is now prepared for use with VERDI-CARE™. :kewl:

I can't wait to see your pictures. You take good pics!

The VERDI-GONE arrived today. Did this:
Soaked for five minuets, rinsed real well= nothing happening.

Resoaked for five minuets, rinsed real well,= hardly any improvement.

Resoaked for 35 min., patted it down with Q-tip= A little improvement.
Only one green spot left. Spot left looks smaller. Used a q-tip and verdi-gone= this spot stays the same.
Resoaked for 45 min= no change. Tried Verdi-gone and toothpick and q-tip. You can barely see it but can feel it when toothpick runs over it.

I beleive I scratched it pretty bad with toothpick trying to wear it down.

So after at least 90 min. of soak time and another half hour working with all three here is what it looks like.

Did you order VERDI-GONE™ or VERDI-CARE™?

DANG! You should have bought VERDI-CARE™! That's my newest product and it's vastly superior to VERDI-GONE™. I'm sorry for the confusion, but I thought I told you to order VERDI-CARE™.

Yes you did. Page 3 post 46. I really misread that one. Double dang it!Well the results I finally attained are pretty good. That one greenish spot is really small and very, very strong. If I am able to post a similar scan it'll illustrate it better than my words.

We'll get you taken care of on the mis-order. VERDI-GONE™ definately works, but VERDI-CARE™ works a lot better. It's my second generation product and I've made a lot of improvements.

BadThad, Verdi- Care arrived today. First application was for two minuets. The green verdigris spot was still there. Scraped it gently with a toothpick after rinsing. No difference.
Second application for 5 minuets and again scraped with a toothpick. Green spot is smaller but still there.
While holding cent with clean rag, applied a few drops of Verdi-Care and scraped with toothpick again ensuring it wouldn't evaporate.
This did the trick... Rinsed with cold tap water then let soak for a few minuets in distilled water in a shot glass filled to the brim.

The cent really seems to be more lustrous too. The total apperance of it has more eye appeal now.

    Thanks for VERDI-GONE.

Looks better! You probably don't want to remove that last bit of verdigris. There's going to be pits under it. Personally, I'd rather have verdigris over the pits. Thanks for posting such great pics!

Are you happy with the coin as it is now?

Yes I certainly am happy with it. Even the reverse looks better after Verdi-Care. Thanks alot for helping and guiding me though a new process.------------------------------------- zeke:):)
