Hey all, I wanted to get some opinions other than my own wishful thinking on this 1888 Indian Head cent. Hopefully the picture comes through. It seems to have the following traits of the very rare 1888/7 cent: 1) The bottom of the 7 is protruding from the bottom of the last 8 at the 7:00 position 2) The 8th feather in the headdress is very depressed at the end 3) The denticles opposite the "E" in UNITED have some filling. I know there is supposed to be a cud in that spot and I was thinking maybe is was an earlier die state?? I believe there is 23 known and just wanted some opinions from you guys if this may be the 24th. Thanks! Craig
The indicators seem to be right but it's still hard to see from that picture any chance of posting another one?
Yeah, that's the only thing that worries me. According to Rick Snow, ALL Snow 1 varieties have the rim cud BUT the die had to break to cause this. I am just hoping this may have been struck before that happened.
Unfortunately, my camera with the macro lens is broken and all I have is my daughters coolpix. I took about 20 pictures and this was the best one. I'll try to get a better pic tomorrow.
