:smile I just bought this wowzer from my friendly dealer Mike. I’ve seen a similar coin/pattern recently posted here at CT by LostDutchman. (see http://www.cointalk.com/t106115/). LostDutchman’s coin appeared to be silver color & mine is copper color. This pattern has one of the coolest eagles on the reverse. At first, I thought that the eagle was one of those Griffin creatures with the head of an eagle & the body of a lion with wings. I recognized it now as a stylized eagle by Karl Goetz. Regarding LostDutchman’s coin, Chrisild pointed out that the eagle on the reverse is the imperial eagle. It has been disassembled from the crown & Prussian eagles in this Goetz design which may be the reason why this piece never became a coin. I do believe that it should have the word cameo somewhere in the slab’s grade. The color is difficult to capture without it getting all washed out from the lighting. These last two photos of the slab should provide an idea about the brightness, toning & color. Again, thanks for letting me share & I look forward to learning more about this coin. Collect89
I bought it because I liked it After I made the purchase, I found one sold on Heritage in 2007 for something near $280 including buyer's premium. Mine cost about 15% more.
