I don't buy or sell. I've thought about it, but it seems risky. It seems like you really have to wade through the BS on ebay.

I both bought and sold on ebay! I am weary of buying though but have had basically good dealings. If I am going to buy something more than $50 it will be PCGS, NGC or ANACS but I have bought 2 PCI graded as well. The deals are there if you hunt and are carful!
2 weeks ago I picked up 4 Jefferson nickels I think they are 1996S, 1997S, 1998S and 1999S PCGS PF69 DCAM and like $23.00 total then the seller emailed me that he sent an 1998S PF68 DCAM by mistake and exchanged it and refunded me $5.00 for the trouble. Sweet. I just happened across these as the auctions were ending and been looking for more since with no luck yet!
I really don't collect slabs but I couldn't pass these up!
I bought a NGC 1994 SMS MS69 Jefferson last week and was disappointed with the coin! seller has a 7 day no questions asked return policy and I sent it back hassle free.
Just be careful and pay attention to return policies and most of all be know what your buying.
    Good Luck!

eBay can be a source for amazingly good deals sometimes, just takes a lot of looking. I buy all of my 'junk' silver coins from eBay. Anything of interest I keep and add to my collection. I once got a 1989 proof silver eagle in a 'lot' for bullion price. Now that silver has gone up pretty good, I think I'm gonna try to sell some. I got all of mine at <= $7/oz. I'm fortunate to have a fair amount of time to search eBay, and I've never been ripped off yet, knock on wood. I also got my 'like new' 10X/20X stereo microscope from eBay for $52 including shipping. Sure beats looking through a loupe for me. Happy Holidays everyone!

I've bought more than sold...I've just started selling this month and so far have had good things...on raw coins I haven't been giving a return because I haven't found a good way to make sure they don't mess with the coin and then send it back...I think when I sell slabs I'll do a return too....
I don't buy off ebay much...just when it hits me ;)

I buy mostly on Ebay. I also sell every once in a while. Must of the time I just sell for the fun of it. Last week ii sold $6.75 of junk barber quarters for $48.00. I was hoping for $1.25 a coin. When I list coins I try to tell all I know. Like on the barber i listed them in bold junk or cull silver, they are bent, polished, scratched, and very worn. I want to make sure bidders know what they are buying so they are not disappointed with it.

Never been unhappy with anything I've bought on eBay... all the coins I've bought were exactly as described (I've even had a few that looked BETTER than the pictures made them look... if you're selling on eBay, use PICTURES, not SCANS!) Never had a seller outright not send anything, or send anything fake, or something in worse condition than pictured or described. Of course the most I've ever spent on a single coin on eBay was $36, maybe there's more risk of counterfeits and overgrading on higher cost coins, but I've never personally had a problem with it.

Most of the eBay sellers I've bought from don't bother to try to grade the coin (unless it's already certified by a TPG), they just show the picutre and let you decide for yourself. I like buying this way anyway... I don't care if a coin is a MS-64, 65, or 66; I just decide based on my own preference, do I like the way the coin looks?

I usually like to buy from coin stores more than eBay though, mainly becuase I want to see the coins personally. I'll never buy anything on eBay that doesn't have a picture. Mainly go on eBay when I can't find what I want at the local coin store.

    Always Beware

I have had great luck with purchasing on e-bay. I have also made some mistakes (learning lessons). There are a lot of ripp off's floating around e-bay coins, especially with shipping fees. If you get a $10.00 coin for $8.00 you've done good, but if you're spending $3.95+ for shipping you might as well go to the coin shop in your town and buy retail. The bottom line as always is be prepared when bidding, have your Red Book, Greysheet, Coin Mag. or what ever references you use to prices coin on hand. I have found that if set my max bid below Red Book and I win I feel like I've done well and that's only if the seller is not trying to rip me off with shipping.
