Hello again, I am full of question's. Can anyone tell me why it looks like I can pick off Loncoln's hair . Under a magnification I can see the obvious raised line running along from the top of the ear to the back of the head and then it is very slight but it turns back to the top of the head before turning once again almost parallel with the first line, it kinda forms the shape of a tongue sticking out but with it completely merging with the base metal at the top of the tongue. At first I thought it was a blob. What is this ? [IMG]%20[IMG][/IMG]

It's a lamination flaw. Some collector's call this particular one a "cracked skull". Mostly happened with the '50's Lincoln cents.

Mine (a little different) is on a 1957 Lincoln:

Thanks Kandiggit, Most research I find on coins only want to deal with big ticket item's and never explain the little things and their pictures aren't the same as looking at one in your hand. I love this site and the fact I get to pick so many people's brain who do know what they are talking about....as for carl e collins , im not sure what your statement is supposed to mean????

1955 has a collectors coin that has shadow doubling. Its called a poor mans doubled die. A great coin for cents is the cherry picker guide cost 30.00 or so but it will tell you great things about wheats lincolns ect. there is also a nice couple o error books at Barnes and Nobles or any book store helps you find great low price coins in pocket change or bags of wheats . Good luck
