Thanks - Even though many people keep trying to pry this one from me, this pretty puppy is going to stay in my collection for a very long time!

Charmy, I'm happy for you! I thought the coin would go. I love getting coins to upgrade and its one of my favorite things to crack out a coin and try to upgrade it. Sometimes I send them in for regrade and have had limited success doing that as well. It makes me feel like I really know the coins I collect. Although I've recently had a coin boddybagged that was in a 63 holder I'll send it back in and hopefully get it graded this time. Each submission has a dissapointment and a silver lining but I really like the anticipation of the process. It keeps it fun and interesting for me. Take care, Matt

Never would've guessed. I would've thought for sure it would come back unchanged. Congrats

I believe that she did not crack it out. But sent it in in it's original holder.

And people say the TPGs are tightening up these days ?

Just more proof to me that what I have been saying for years now is true.

Congratulations. I'm glad I was wrong (I guessed 64+). Whatever the grade, I like the look of the coin.

Dougie, nice way to turn you being wrong into you being right. ;)

But was I wrong ? Or have I always been right ?

Let's see Charmy. The evidence says this - the coin was previously graded by NGC as 64. NGC uses 3 graders and a finalizer - total of 4. Then the coin was crossed to PCGS. PCGS uses 2 graders and a finalizer - total of 3. So 7 professional individuals all agreed that the grade was 64.

Now today - 3 professional individuals agreed the grade was 65.

So who was right ?

Doug, you are very knowledgable and experienced, and I say this with kindness, but in this case you are not right.

It is my understanding that more experienced graders take a much closer look at coins that are sent under the Secure Plus service, so I would think their opinions should be given more credence.

Also, you have not seen this coin in hand, I have - and I humbly feel with my specific experience and knowledge of copper that my opinion should be afforded a little more weight than perhaps even yours. Also, all who have seen this coin in hand have agreed it was MS65.

Just because some perhaps lesser experienced graders graded it one way before doesn't mean they were right.
