Hunt, if they are your coins and you are looking to sell them, divide them into rolls and try to list them on eBay to see what happens. If you do and they sell, let us know how you do. That will be proof, not that you have to prove anything. I have had success selling bicentennial rolls as I stated earlier. Most rush to say you will have no success and yet I have been successful listing them. Here's another thread in which these coins were discussed in much the same manner: Bicentennial Quarters

Read the post again. I, like the other poster, just thought it sounded a bit suspect when you said you just found them in a closet and the previous owners must have left them. How long ago did you move into this house?

I could care less about the value or the quarters and am certainly not jealous of $34. :rolling:

3 years ago..and i found it like in the closet on the very top shelf it was hidden behind a carry on, and the carry on had toothpaste in it.

Anyway, doesn't matter - I believe you if that's what you say.

btw- why is your mood depressed?

When I got back into coin collecting several years ago one of the first things I bought was a roll of circulated bicentennial quarters on ebay as well as circulated halves and dollars. I had not collected coins since about 1976. I was glad to get them, enjoyed them, still have them. I may be a little more sophisticated in my tastes now (I read CoinTalk) but they were a stepping stone to much enjoyment.

Why would he lie about a bunch of Bicentennial quarters? What good would it do him is he going to gain fame and fortune from it? If I was going to lie about finding a coin it would not be a bunch of Bicentennial quarters. I believe he found them. I found stuff in my house when I moved in people forget stuff. Ice

Quite believable! In three different houses I've lived in, I've found things left behind. One had a wooden crate of 1950's tin toys still in original boxes. Another, I found a pile of tools left in the rafters in the basement. In the one I'm in now, I found a few rolls of pennies from the 50's to the 80's in the electrical room.

I think he was going off of what I said. I believe he found them but it is odd that a whole jar was just sitting in a closet, and he had never even seen them before.
I don't think he was honestly doubting the integrity of the story. I think he was being a tad sarcastic with his comments as well.
No harm done, this isn't like Pupa and his Granny Dying and making him RICH!

I say save in the jar put a note and date in with them and there is a unique part of your collection. I save all sorts of money for my collection won bet from brother ect got I check from a freind from 2000 in there for 5.00 dollars

Well assuming you had $3,000 worth and you were getting 2% interest (And during that 30 year period there were times when you could have gotten a lot better than that.) after 30 years you would have your original $3,000, and would have been able to buy $2,327 worth of beer. If you could have averaged 4% your $3,000 would have turned into $9,355. You would definitely have done better with the money in the bank, or CDs, tax free municipal bonds etc.
