If the guy is going in front of a firing squad I think marksmanship medals are in order....(provided they do their jobs correctly, of course).

    I concur completely.

    Medals? Crass.

I guess not too expensive, but what do you do with all the extra medals? Looks like for a half dollar size piece the cost would be $1520 for the minimum size order and two custom dies. That gets you 5,000 medals. Probably about 4,950 more than they need. You can cut that price by $195 if they go with one custom die, say Utah Corrections and then leave the back blank so it can be engraved with what ever special service they are for. That way they can use the one purchase for multiple events and save money. (I would NOT suggest a special coining for a given execution and then selling the excess to defray costs.)

Perhaps they could just forward what they don't need to Texas, Virginia, and Florida... :goofer:

    They should issue a "pattern."

  7. If the person firing the fatal shot sends the coin the PCGS, can he/she get a "first strike" designation. TC

Why the heck would you create a coin for an execution!! Just sounds
    Very retarded :( and morbid

Not unusual when groups face a traumatic situation, i.e. war medals.

I said the exact same thing when I heard they were putting presidents wives on coins or medals or whatever they are...

I hope they glue the coin to the guys head so none of the marksmen miss.

Actually, they pinned a white paper target over his heart... and they didn't miss. He was executed at midnight 6/18/2010.
