The dry spell continues. Search another box and all I got was a 2006 half.

Got some Ike's from my teller. Felt I had to take them. Nada, so I spent them at the store.

Roll searchers! This will be my last post here :(
I wanted to say goodbye to the whole forum but that post got removed
I am ending my coin stage in life, it was fun, but its time for me to move on. I have picked up my last boxes of halves yesterday I finally found a 1970 half and that made it extra special. I found nothing of interest in the last two boxes I searched. I took the time and counted all of what I have found in my year of searching, I sure enjoyed looking through all my findings! Here is all that I have found from rolls/bank visits and bags of coins:
    1 morgan dollar 1879-O XF
    2 peace dollars 1923 holed, 1923 AU
    1 1987 silver eagle
    565 40%halvers
    116 1964 silver halves
    116 Franklin halves
    23 Walking Liberty halves
    1 silver L500 Lira

821 silver halves in all :smile
    56 silver quarters
    919 silver dimes :smile
8 silver nickels (didnt search nickels too often).

I am amazed at how much silver I have found, with me out of the way hopefully more for you guys to find!
I wish all the best of luck! :hail:
Thank you for all the fun, take care all and goodbye!

Every payday, I get 10 rolls of nickels, 10 rolls of quarters, and one roll of modern dollars. My significant finds in the past three months:

    64-D quarter in AU-58
01-S Kentucky quarter proof (someone really must have needed those pack of cigarettes!)
    67 Canadian Lynx in VF
    45-S War Nickel in F
    11-P V Nickel in VF (I find this before a 2009?)

and yesterday a completely trashed 2010 Fillmore dollar

Still no 2009/2010 nickels or National Park quarters.

i had my grandmother go into the box were my great grandmother kept what was left of her stolen coin collection. her collection was mostly morgans and older halves. the collection was stolen in the 50's. somehow some jfk halves got into the box. my grandma thinks she may have just thrown them in, whenever she got them in the 70's and 80's.

now i know this technically is not roll searching but, i want to give my grandma a fair price for them.

i know she got some 1968 jfk halves, coinflation says around $2.75? there are around 30 bicentennial halves and dollars, but i doubt any are silver. if they were how much, should i give her per coin? even if these are unc, they are not worth anything over silver, right?

thanks in advance for the help. she wants to just give everything to me, but i want to help her get some extra money for her vegas trip. we could just take them to the dealer, but i want them and will pay better. the other stuff in the box were a few morgans, some peace dollars, silver certificates and, older $2 bills. i really wish she didn't have her big collection stolen:(

My grandmother sold hers instead of selling it to me. :( She wasn't aware that I would have wanted it.

So far I'm halfway through box 1 of 4 halves, taking a break.

No silver at all so far, but:

    2 2009 P's
    6 2009 D's

Anyone care to put forth a theory as to how so many of these NIFC's with the same date could end up in one box? Did the mint sell these in rolls or just mint sets? If rolls, I could understand this happening---but if just in mint sets, someone had to break up a LOT of sets for these coins to end up in one box----

Best of luck to you!!! I have a couple of things to say:
    1. Congrat on your finds.....wow, what a nice little silver hoard you found.
    2. How on earth can you walk away after being smitten by the silver bug. That is SOME will power if you ask me. I hope it is just that and not some illness or something serious.....
    3. How on earth did you find so many silver dimes. That is incredible!!!! Please share if you are still here. We all find silver halves, and I find a little over 1 silver dime per box on average. I'm stunned by the number you found.
    4. I'm also surprised at the number of Frankies you got, but as I recall, most of those came from one find. If so, then your hard work paid off by getting lucky that day (luck is often a product of work).
    5. I'm equally surprised by 56 silver quarters. How did you find those. I don't think ANYONE on this site has been so successful in finding silver quarters. What was your strategy on the dimes and quarters?
    6. Good luck to you. :)

Finally got a chance to go thru a box of cents that I got a few weeks ago. I would guess that over half the box are 2010-P. Still looking for the first "D".
Are there any known varieties that have been found yet?

These came out of 4 folders where they were in the holes marked small date and from a 3# coffee can of cents that the newest cent was dated 1974. I tossed them all together into a single roll and now cannot tell them apart ? Getting older don't necessarily mean you get smarter.

I finally scanned them in groups of 9 and set each group aside. Hopefully I can pull the right ones ?:goofer:

In those first two boxes I found a 2004 S Half Dollar. It looks silver and sounds like silver. Did the mint make both clad and silver clad S mint proofs? It has definatly been around the block because the fields has lost all shine and is a bit beat up from circulation.

Yes they made both S copper-nickel clad & S 90% silver halves in 2004. The 2010 RedBook says on page 204 "Silver Proofs are of the pre-1965 standard".
So I would weigh that coin if I were you and it should weigh 12.50 grams if it is a 90% silver coin.

    Great day today:

1 box of halves: No silver. One very nice 1978 S proof
$270 in CWR from one bank: 64 40%ers and 9 1964 90%ers for 73 total silver coins :D :) :D. That represents my biggest haul to date from one source.

Then the Lakers finally beat the Celtics in a game 7......WooooooHoooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!

never did a roll of dimes, but my girl came home with one. nothing good, but a mercury dime! i seen the back first and seen the "D" mm! i was hoping so bad to turn it over and it be a 1916, but nope! it was a '45. o well, its still silver and rare to find in a roll.

i didn't have this one yet, so i am definitely going to keep it, at least till i get a better one, i would say its an "xf" coin.

so does anyone know what the going rate for a 1968 jfk half is?

Wow.....still have never found a merc. Congrats.

The melt value of a 68 half at today's prices is $2.7759.
