Hi all. I have a 1951 commemorative Australian florin. The front I king George and the reverse has a sword crossing a scepter and a crown above that. Will load photos if I can but Internet is VERY slow here. Does anyone have any idea of the value?

    Thanks

According to my Krause, it can either be silver or copper nickel. Here's the info ...

    KM# 47
    1951(m) Mintage 2,000,000
    11.31g, 0.500 silver, 0.1818 ASW

    VF-Bullion Value
    EF-$4.00
    Unc-$15.00
    BU-$22.00

    KM# 47a
    1951(l) proof, no mintage given
    Copper Nickel
Thought to be a trial piece, $17,500.00

Thanks for your answer :) can it a nickel though? We don't have them in Australia?

There is a slim chance it could be copper-nickel, but odds are it's the silver version.

Hi Billyray. I'm feeling very silly at the moment - I wasn't totally awoke when I posted to your reply. You were talking about the makeup of the coin. I assumed we were talking about the coin: a 'nickel.' Thanks very much.
